What we check, in order

Each ceremony has its own list; the principle — every rule named, every rejection explained — is the same.

1 · Season

Kharmas, Chaturmas and adhika masa are excluded where the ceremony requires it.

2 · Combustion

Guru and Shukra must not be asta (combust).

3 · Nakshatra

Only the nakshatras prescribed for the ceremony.

4 · Tithi

No rikta tithi, no Amavasya, and only the tithis suited to the ceremony.

5 · Vāra

Weekdays that do not suit the ceremony are avoided.

6 · Choghadiya

Auspicious choghadiya only, and the limbs must hold for the whole window.

7 · Kaal vela

The window may not touch Rahu kaal, Yamaganda or Gulika.

8 · Bhadra

Vishti karana may not overlap any minute of the window.

9 · Yoga and Panchak

Inauspicious yogas and Panchak are checked and reported.

These rules are still being checked against the Jagannatha Panji. Please confirm the final muhurta with your priest.
