Baby names by birth star
The first sound of a name traditionally comes from the birth star and its quarter (pada). Find the syllable, then names that begin with it.
From the birth details
We work out the Moon’s nakshatra and pada at birth. Nothing is stored.
How the naming syllable is found
Each of the 27 nakshatras is divided into four padas, and each pada has a sound. The Moon’s nakshatra and pada at the moment of birth give the child’s sound.
We use B. V. Raman’s table, written in Latin and in Devanagari. A name fits when its Devanagari spelling begins with the sound; short and long vowels count alike.
The names and meanings are a fixed, reviewed list, not written by a machine for each visitor. Your family priest may follow a regional table; ask them before the naming ceremony.
